It is with great sadness that the family of the late Laura Mary Farrell of Little Bay announces her passing. Laura passed away at the St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital in St. John’s on Friday, April 7th, 2023, at the age of 80.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is her foster daughter, Cathy (Jim) Murray; sisters-in-law, Rosemary and Betty Farrell; many special nieces and nephews; great nieces, Sarah, Emily Rose and Claire Broders, Kaitlyn, Alexandra and Olivia Blake; special cousin, Hannah Lambe; friends, Geraldine Power, Marg and Phonse Murphy, Mary and Tom Power, Bride Murphy, Anne Tarrant, Bess Collins and Nellie Noseworthy; plus a large circle of extended family and friends.
Laura was predeceased by parents, James and Mary Farrell; brothers, William, Richard, Aloysius, infant brother John Patrick, Hugh, Jim, Frank and Dan; sister, Mary Farrell; sisters-in-law, Melinda, Elizabeth, Selina and Kay Farrell; nephew, James Farrell.
Laura was a kind, caring woman and a blessing to her family, friends and all those who knew her. Laura worked for many years as a teacher, locally and up North. She was a pillar in her community and worked tirelessly as a volunteer for many organizations. Laura was a source of inspiration and strength to many people and her reach touched more people than she ever realized. Even though she had no biological children of her own, she was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, caregiver and a friend to everyone. She loved everyone unconditionally and always rooted for the underdog. She will always be remembered for her famous words “be good and kind to everyone”.
In honoring Laura’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
The Farrell Family will be accepting visitors at Wiseman’s Funeral Home, Marystown on Friday, April 14th, from
10:00am – 12:00pm
2:00pm – 4:00pm
7:00pm – 9:00pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Marystown, on Saturday, April 15th, 2023 at a time to be announced.
Inurnment to follow at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Little Bay.
In Laura’s memory donations may be made to the Little Bay Heritage Center or the BPSPCA.
