Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Larry after his courageous battle with prostate cancer. He was determined to beat it and be with us as long as he could. The last couple of months was not easy for him but he said things will be ok and he was all right. He also truly appreciated the loving support of his brothers who were by his side every step of the way.
Larry was born on October 21, 1950, the second of 4 sons to John and Ann (Soloway) Lesyk of the Sifton, MB district. Larry leaves to mourn his passing, his spouse Sharon, brothers Ray, Randy and Morris; daughter, Jana and grandchildren, Xander and Avianna and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
After a long and successful career in sales with flooring manufacturers, it was time to retire in 2012 and do some serious golfing and enjoy the free time! Larry loved life, loved to joke and tease and his close friendships and many conversations about anything and everything meant the world to him. He always said, ‘I don’t know a lot about one thing’ but I know a little about a lot of things.’ A great conversationalist he was.
Larry was one to always lend a helping hand when needed and could always be counted on to get something done. Larry gave of his loving heart and his quiet and understated generosity and kindness will never be forgotten by those he helped. Larry accepted all and his larger-than-life personality and a voice no one would forget, and a contagious laugh will never be forgotten. A saying he used was ‘there are people that choose what to do and then there are people that do what needs to be done’.
He loved socializing and always had time for others to stop by for happy hour and spend some special moments with him. After a visit he would say. ‘Thank you for stopping by and spending a few precious moments with us’. His lifelong passion for the game of golf was known by all who knew him. Through both business and personal travel, Larry played some of the world’s most beautiful courses and made many memories in Palm Springs, Phoenix, Myrtle Beach and attending the Masters in Augusta Georgia. He hoped to get back in his cart one day and play 9 at Canora’s golf course which he was proud to say was a well taken care of course.
Cremation has taken place. As per Larry’s wishes, a private service for family/friends will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Larry may be made to the Regina Cancer Patient Lodge 4104 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 1A3 or Paws & Claws, Yorkton @ Box 1047, Yorkton, SK S3N 2X3.
We know Larry had friends far and wide, so to all of you, the next time you tee up, celebrate Larry’s love for golf or raise a glass in his spirit.
Rest easy Shmoop……. We love you always and miss you.
