Obituary of L. Paul Gay
It is with profound sadness that the family of L. Paul Gay of Hampton, Ontario announces his peaceful passing on March 20, 2023 at the age of 86 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Ruth; two daughters: Michelle Peters (Derek) and Leanne Northcott (Daryl); grandchildren: Ryan, Brendan, Carter, Colin & Violet, as well as relatives, friends and neighbors.
Paul was born in St. Jacques Parish, New Brunswick in 1936. His family soon moved to nearby St. Basile, New Brunswick where he grew up. When he was 16, Paul moved to Durham Region, eventually settling in Oshawa. He worked in construction and then in General Motors (North Plant) for 25 years. Paul and Ruth lived in Hampton, Ontario for over 50 years, raising their daughters and operating a small apple orchard.
In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren, making frequent family trips to Virginia and North Carolina and traveling with Ruth in their motorhome in the summertime.
A private service has been held at the family’s request.
