Kimberly Elizabeth
Sheppard (nee Kennedy)
April 4, 1966 – January 28, 2023
York Harbour, NL
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Kimberly Elizabeth Sheppard announce her passing on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 56 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 31 years Rodney; children: Ryan and Olivia (Jeremie); sisters and brothers: Lorraine (Brian), Carolyn (Garland), Elaine (Darrell), Janice (Jeff), Alison (Steve), Sean (Suzanne), Jamie (Natalie) and Mark (Juanita); father-in-law Howard; brothers and sister-in-law: Darrell (Karalee), Stephen (Roxanne) and Catherine (Doug); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Gordon and Ina, brother Baby Ralph, mother-in-law Lorna Sheppard.
Kim was one of a kind, a positive, strong, courageous wife, beautiful momma, sister and friend. Kim fought against her battle with cancer for nearly seven years and fought it with grace and a smile on her face. Kim will always be admired for her strength despite her challenges. Kim refused to let cancer define her as a person, if you had the privilege to know her, you would never know she was battling this unforgiving illness. Kim loved to spend her time with family, making memories and new adventures with her darling lover, Rod… even when it was an adventure all the way to St. Maarten.
Kim was quite the baker, she loved spending time making desserts, homemade bread, you name it. Of course, everything she made, she gave away for everyone else to enjoy.
You would often find Kim dancing to her favorite songs, even if it was by herself as we all watched. Kim was a kind, gentle, beautiful soul and will be remembered by her family as being just that.
Kim’s family would like to say a special thanks to all of the medical staff that helped Kim throughout her journey. From extended stays at the Daffodil Place, The Chemotherapy Unit, Dr. Powell, Dr. Park, The Palliative Care Team, Community Health Nurse Jody and her nurses Nathan and Nicole at Western Memorial Regional Hospital during her last few days. Also, an exceptionally special thanks to who Kim called her guardian angels, Kimberley and Dr. Young. You all have made her journey a little bit easier for her.
Kim spent her last few weeks planning a Celebration of Life and enjoyed it to the fullest- every minute of it. Kim danced her heart out that night, laughed and made beautiful memories with everyone that attended. Kim was so grateful for the love and support of her family during this time.
