At Hospice House in Fredericton on Wednesday June 28, 2023,
Kenneth Laurie Blunston of Smith’s Creek, NB passed away at
the age of 74. Born in Fredericton, he was a son of the late Laurie
and Doris (Flynn) Blunston. His passion was music and he was so very
happy to have been able to fulfill his dreams for the last 20
years.
Kenny is survived by his partner in life, and music, Bernice
Hood; mother Geneva Blunston; 4 daughters Angela Lamey (Mark Dixon),
Darlene Blunston (Charlie Goddard), Nicole Blunston (Mark Partington)
and Barbara Blunston; his much loved grandchildren Nadia Jackson
(Craig), Savanah Jackson (Blake), Alyssa Jackson, Brandon and Abigail
Munn, Liaria and Garrus Partington and the apple of his eye Jordan
Goddard; 3 brothers Chris (Tara Morris), Eric (Cathy), and Keith; a
sister Crystal Ebersbach (Rick); sister-in-law Mildred Blunston;
Darlene and Angela’s mother Addie Marshall; many wonderful
friends. Ken was also predeceased by his brother William Harry
“Bill” Blunston; a sister Kathleen Blunston.
There will be no visitation or funeral service, at his
request. As he told us all “I don’t want anyone making
a fuss over me.” There will be a musical celebration of
his life to be held at the St. John’s Community Hall in
Sus Corner on July 9, 2023 from 1 to 5 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Hospice House
Fredericton, Canadian Cancer Society, NB Lung Association, or a
charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the
family.
A special thank you to the staff of Hospice House Fredericton
and the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital for
all care and attention you provided Kenny.
Although we are deeply saddened, we are comforted by his own
words. “I know I am going to Heaven and I know I’ll be
singing in that choir.” Of that, we have absolutely no doubt
– in the key of G.
