It is with great sadness. We announce our beloved mother Katica Ranogajec passed away peacefully on December 27 2022 in Victoria BC. Katica was born on April 16, 1930, in Donji Kraljevec Medimurje Croatia.
Predeceased by her husband, Franjo, Ranogajec in 2003, Katica is survived by her children, Marijan, Zeljko,(Alice) and Renata,(Darcy). She also leaves behind her grandchildren. Dustin, Angela, Christina, Karissa, and Dylan, and two great grandchildren, Henry and Gavin.
She will be missed by many family and friends in Croatia, Canada, and Australia.
Katica, Franjo and son Marijan escaped communism from the former Yugoslavia, and arrived in Aversa, Italy at a refugee camp, where son Zeljko (Rudi)was born.
In 1960 the family arrived in Winnipeg Manitoba for a short time and then moved on to Victoria,BC in 1961, were their daughter Renata was born.
Katica worked for many years as a housekeeper, and retired from the Royal Jubilee Hospital.
Katica and Franjo were very active in Victoria’s Croatian community for many years. They enjoyed spending time with their family and friends at many functions in the community. They travelled extensively and cherished the time spent with distant relatives and friends.
A Mass and Service will be held on January 18, 2023, at 1:00 pm, at St. Leopold Mandic Church, 4081 Gordon Head Rd, with burial to follow at Royal Oak Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation.
