Whittington, Katherine Margaret (nee Jenner) of Chatham, passed away on Saturday July 15th, 2023, at the age of 92 years. Katherine grew up in Harwich Township. She was the loving wife of Richard Lyle Whittington (predeceased September 8th, 2012) for 62 years. Dear mother of Becky Knowles and her husband Peter, Janet Whittington and her husband Ralph Heeney, and Richard and his wife Barb. Dear grandmother of Stephen Knowles (Jennifer), Samantha Shepperd (Scott), Richard Whittington (Brittany), Justin Whittington (Kiera), Davis Whittington-Heeney (Allie), and Graham and Taylor Whittington-Heeney. Dear great-grandmother of Tyler and Jacob Shepperd and Margaret McDougall-Heeney. She is predeceased by her parents, Roy and Margaret Jenner and her sisters, Jean Coutts Agar, Ruth Myers, Shirley Marlatt and Martha Kirkpatrick. She was loved by several brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Katherine graduated from Alma College in 1948. She was an active member of St. Andrew’s United Church and an avid bridge player and golfer. The family would like to extend a special thank you to their Mom’s lifelong and dear friend, Edythe Reid and also to the staff of Riverview Gardens 5 East.
Family and friends are invited to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710, on Monday July 31st, 2023, with visiting from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Interment Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.
