KARDYNAL, Rose

Rose Kardynal (née Melnychuk) passed away peacefully on March 21, 2023, at the age of 94, with her daughter Ivy by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Nick in 2016 after 66 years of marriage; and her son Alvin in 2017. Left to mourn are her daughter Ivy (Kevin); daughter-in-law Brenda; 3 granddaughters; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Rose was born in Tallman, SK, and moved to Saskatoon at the age of 16. She married Nick in 1950 and they had two children. Starting in 1955, she worked at or managed restaurants in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Alberta, finally settling in Kelowna in 1971. Rose was a great gardener, an avid reader, and crocheted, and made quilts. She also never passed up a chance to play a game of Kaiser or cribbage. They also spent much time in their trailer traveling the western provinces and Alaska. She was an active volunteer member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church making thousands of pies and perogies through the years.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 11:00 am, at the Dormition of the Mother of God Church, 1091 Coronation Avenue, Kelowna, BC.
