Julianna Zei (Stier) of Tillsonburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 28th, 2023, at Maple Manor Long Term Care, Tillsonburg in her 92nd year. Born in Tevel, Hungary, daughter of the late Frank (1945) and Anna Stier (1983). Predeceased by her beloved husband Peter Zei Jr (1969). Much loved mother of Andy Zei, of Mississauga and Dr. Julie Zei, of Portage, Michigan. Julianna is survived by sister-in-law Rosina Zei (late Andrew, 2022), of Courtland. Predeceased by her brother Steve Stier (1993), sister Mary Weber (2006), in-laws Peter Zei Sr (1971) and Katherine Zei (1981), and sister-in-law Elizabeth Schweitzer (2023). Julianna is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Julianna and Peter were proud tobacco farmers for many years in the South Middleton area. After Peter’s passing, Julianna moved to Tillsonburg where she lived for over 40 years before entering Maple Manor Nursing Home. During those years, Julianna occasionally worked on various tobacco farms. Her primary love was cooking and loved working in the kitchen of the Delhi German Home. She was a member of the Delhi German Ladies Society, a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church and member of the Tillsonburg Catholic Women’s League.
Friends, neighbors, and relatives are invited to attend a public visitation on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023, between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Services Inc. Chapel, 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. C.W.L. Rosary will be held on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 4th, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Tillsonburg by Rev. Fr. Seejo John. Interment follows in Sacred Heart R. C. Cemetery, Langton. All funeral attendees are invited to attend a reception at the Delhi District German Home, 443 James St., Delhi, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Memorial donations in Julianna’s memory can be made to “St. Mary’s Church- Building Fund” or to “Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital” through the Maurice J.
