Obituary of Joyce Mackintosh
Joyce Georgia (Kenny) Mackintosh was born on a farm near New Osgoode, Sask. Her parents were George and Anna Kenny. Joyce only
weighed 4 pounds at birth. She was always little but mighty.
Joyce went to a country school called Goyer from Grades 1 to 8. Her family moved to Tisdale in 1943, where she finished her education. Joyce got a job with the janitor at school and earned $5.00 a month.
In 1944 Joyce was confirmed at St. Matthews Anglican Church in Tisdale.
In 1948 she went to Saskatoon where she worked with Sask Gov’t Telephones as a telephone operator and later at Star City.
Joyce met Tom on a blind date. She married Thomas Alexander Mackintosh on October 5th, 1950.
Tom and Joyce enjoyed travelling. For many years they had a winter place in Alamo, Texas and a cabin at Fishing Lake in summer.
In 2000, they moved to Nipawin where they spent their remaining years.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Tom, of 72 years; her parents George and Anna Kenny; brother Neil Kenny; sister Emma Baird; sister-in-law Mary Kenny; and brother-in-law Cliff Baird.
She is survived by her daughter Judy (Lyle) Hoimyr; her son Jack (Jackie) Mackintosh; grandchildren Mark (Laura), Tannis (Derek), Lee Ann (Ivan), Jaime (Joe), Amanda (Zac), Murry (Shaelynn); great grandchildren Anna, Jeremy, Kate, Brock, Shawn, Tyler, Kendall, Raya, Emma, Charlie, Brooklyn, Emily, and Billy.
