Joy Anne Smith-Niemetz, beloved wife of Calvin, passed away at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre, Moosomin, on Friday, August 25, 2023 at the age of 58 years.
A service to celebrate and remember Joy will take place at the Moosomin Conexus Convention Centre, Moosomin, on Friday, September 8th, at 2:00 p.m.
With heavy hearts, the family announces, Joy Smith-Niemetz of Moosomin
Saskatchewan, survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Calvin Niemetz, loving
Mother of Lacey (Cody) Buswell, Dakota (Ethan) Joba passed away on August 25, 2023
at the age of 58 at the Moosomin (Hospital) Southeast Integrated Care Center.
In loving memory of a beautiful and compassionate soul. She was born in 1964 to
Wesley and Gladys Smith of Moosomin, SK. She also leaves behind her Mother, Gladys
Smith, 4 Brothers; Bruce (Leila) MacPherson, Colin (Ellie) MacPherson, Lyn (Christine)
Smith, Vern (Judy) Smith and one Sister, Shelley Smith
She was predeceased by her Father, Wesley Smith in 2022 and Brother, Brian
MacPherson in 1998.
Joy has 16 nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews.
Her name “Joy” truly mirrored her essence, bringing smiles and laughter to all those
around her. Her fun loving playful personality created cherished memories and light
hearted moments that will be forever remembered.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, daughters, mother, aunts, uncles, cousins,
nieces, nephews and so many friends.
Joy was raised on a farm outside of Moosomin and attended school in Moosomin. She
left in her earlier years to pursue a career as a Parts person and moved to Alberta
where she met her husband Calvin. They gradually returned to her farm roots in 2000
where they bought the farm next to her parents and raised their 2 daughters.
Anyone who knew her could get inspiration from her love of farm life. She embraced
every aspect of it from horses, cows, calving time, haying and harvest.
She was very much instrumental in helping the Smith Century Family Farm survive until
her passing.
With remarkable intelligence and a deep understanding of alternative health practices,
she was a guiding light for countless individuals, seeking better well-being. Her legacy
in this regard will forever shine through the lives she positively impacted.
Her strong faith, especially in the promise of a resurrection, shaped her actions and
interactions and her legacy serves as a reminder to all to hold onto our convictions and
live a life aligned with our deepest values.
The family wishes to thank all those who gave such good care to Joy while in the
Hospital and all the well wishes, food, and compassion given to both Joy and all her
family.
