Joseph Julius Olajos
Passed away peacefully with the love of his family, on June 10, 2023, at Fairhaven Long Term Care. Joe is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jean (Munro). He will be remembered by his family, David (Diane), Michael (Marianne), Robert (Alexis), and Lisa (Yves Dupuis). Grandpa of Maria (Josh Heffernan), Matty, Leo, Abbey, and Lucas, and great-grandpa of Myla, and Emmett. Joe is predeceased by his parents, Julius and Elizabeth.
Joe was born in Hamilton, Ontario, on March 28, 1942. The family moved to a tobacco farm in the Burford area, west of Brantford. The farm was sold in 1961 and the family moved to Brantford. Joe received his primary education at Woodbury School, a 1-room country school near the farm and continued his schooling in Brantford. He attended Ryerson Polytechnical and studied Civil and Architectural Technologies, graduating in 1965. He was employed by the Provincial Ministry of the Environment and retired in 1996.
Joe was an active outdoorsman – enjoying hunting, and fishing. The family enjoyed camping, and taking trips to all provinces and territories in Canada. Joe had a life-long fascination with airplanes and earned his private pilot’s license. After retirement from the MOE, he started a home-based business selling metal detectors and accessories.
Family, friends, and co-workers will find it difficult to forget his sense of humour, whether it be quick quips, jokes, or one-liners – he loved to make people laugh.
