FERREIRA, Jose Alves (October 28, 1933 – April 30, 2023)-
Passed away, suddenly but peacefully, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Sunday, April 30th, 2023, Jose Alves Ferreira of RR3 Port Rowan at the age of 89. Predeceased by his much-loved wife of 56 years Maria Angelina (Macedo) Ferreira (December 27, 2015). Loved father and father-in-law of: John Ferreira (Teresa), Prince Edward County, Ontario and children: Jordyn Reilley Ferreira, Jack St. Clair, and Shannon St. Clair and proud and loving great grandfather of Aliyah Cordeiro. Loved brother and brother-in-law of Beatrice (Manuel Pimetal), Toronto. Survived by a sister-in-law Cecila Ferreira, Thornhill, and her husband the late John Luis Ferreira and also nieces, nephews and cousins. Jose was predeceased by a much-loved son Joseph Antonio (‘’Joey’’) Ferreira (March 4, 1990).
Jose was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Langton and occasionally he attended St. Michaels R.C. Church, Walsh. Jose came to Canada from the Azores, Portugal in 1956. He originally farmed and lived in Port Stanley, Ontario but later was happy with his move to purchase a nice farm in Port Rowan. He loved the farm and farming mostly Cash Crops and Tobacco. He was an accomplished Master Winemaker. He annually had a remarkable garden and he mostly gave the vegetables away to neighbours, family, and friends. In his younger years he liked fishing.
Friends, neighbours, and relatives will be received by the Ferreira family on Wednesday May 3rd, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Services Inc., 40 Queen Street, Langton, Ontario. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Wednesday May 3rd at 3:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Albert Street, Langton by Rev. Father Seejo John. Interment follows in the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Langton.
