Obituary of John Frank Yuhar
John passed away in Strathmore, Alberta on June 24, 2023, at the age of 89.
He was born at home on January 29, 1934, in Hotchkiss, Alberta, the second child of John and Cecilia Yuhar. John married Annie Chop in 1963. They farmed in Hawk Hills and Hotchkiss, raising 5 children: Mary, Michael, Victor, Teresa, and David.
John and Annie lived 45 years on the farm before moving to Strathmore in 2008. They had celebrated 57 years of marriage when Annie passed away in 2020. John continued to live in the house they called home, assisted by family, home care and private caregivers, until his passing.
He loved cards and puzzles, enjoyed fiddle music, his granddaughter Zoe’s piano playing, FaceTime calls with his daughter Teresa, surprise visits from grandchildren and great-grandchildren, chocolate pie and DQ strawberry sundaes! He watched Catholic Mass on TV every day and enjoyed game shows like Wheel of Fortune.
He was predeceased by his parents and siblings Annie, George, Willie and Irene, his son David and wife Annie. He is survived by his children: Mary (Randy) Kruse of Strathmore; Michael (Kelli) Yuhar and Victor (Sheila) Yuhar both of Whitecourt; Teresa (Richard) Christopher of Calgary; as well as grandchildren: Bradley, Patrick (Mary), Benjamin Kruse; Mitch, Cole, and Dylan (Kaleeah) Yuhar; Cutler, Joseph, and Lily Yuhar; Zoe Christopher; and great-grandchildren James and Joseph Kruse.
