Obituary of John Breyer
Jan 10, 1928-Aug 3, 2023
John passed away peacefully, at home, in the place he loved most.
(after waiting 56 years for the Leaf’s to win the Cup again!)
Beloved husband of Hilda (1997). Dearly loved father of Johanna (Jo) and Vic Stellingwerff, and adored Papa of Kendall and Ivan Barrios (Mexico). Teasing Uncle John to many nieces and nephews in Canada and the Netherlands. Predeceased by all of his siblings:
Sam, Piet, Dina, Dick, Harry, Ger and survived only by 2 sisters-in-law, Ann Breyer and her family of Manitoulin, and Johanna Kuipers and her family of Edmonton. Also predeceased by his “Underground brother” Moshe Ga’aton (2022) and mourned by his family of Israel. Dad and Shay were reunited in 2017 after 72 years apart.
As per Dad’s wishes, he has been cremated. No services planned at this time, but family and friends will gather at a later date to re-tell all of Dad’s favourite old stories. Online condolences and donations may be made at www.forestfuneralhome.com. Arrangements entrusted to DENNING’S OF FOREST.
