Thinking of my Dad, what comes to mind is stories. My Dad and my Mom were always close and all about family.
One story that I remember is when I visited Dad and after my long drive home, I’d have to call that I was home fine. It was the love and care for me as if I was still a teenager, yet I am well into my 50s. Still a ‘dad’ and worrying about his children. He would do the same for sister and niece, requesting a call when home to give him peace of mind.
Another story is when I received my first award. My Dad was so proud and happy for me. The award was to be returned that night for engraving, but my parents would not have it, and took it home and put it on the hutch to admire every day. Both my dad and mom were proud and elated. Eventually about a year later they got a call to return the trophy. So, my parents were supportive and grudgingly gave it back. So, a smaller token award was given and for over the past 40+ years on the hutch as a reminder to my award.
He leaves us with memories and love for his family.
