John Dorrian Parsons was born on April 30, 1947 in Yellowknife, NT and passed away on March 30, 2023 in Oliver, BC.
John is survived by his son Peter Parsons (Deanna), his grandson Dorrian Parsons (Taylor), his brother Richard (Darlene), niece Kelsey, and many close friends and extended family in both Alberta and BC.
He is predeceased by his parents Walter and Maxine Parsons, brother Vance and nephew Brian.
John made his living driving truck, working everywhere from the oil patch to the ice roads in northern Canada. He owned his own gravel trucking company for many of those years; if there was something to haul, John has probably done it. He decided to finally hang up the keys and retire in 2018.
John called Sherwood Park home for the majority of his life, but bought a property in Oliver BC where he would winter and once retired would spend all of his time. He was quick to remind us in Alberta about the mild weather and the long golf seasons there, as golf was his favorite pastime.
John and his family would like to give a special Thank You to his good friends Trevor and Lynda who helped him so much in his last months.
Donations can be made in John’s memory to STARS Ambulance, a charity that was dear to his heart. STARS air ambulance
A small Celebration of Life will be held in Sherwood Park at his old local watering hole, Willy’s Bar, on Saturday April 22 at 1pm.
