John Morrow Beaven, 81, of Ayr ON, passed away peacefully on February 1 2023 surrounded by his loved ones.
John was born on May 22 1941 to Ernest and Evelyn Beaven in Toronto ON.
John joined the Metropolitan Toronto Police force in 1959 as a Cadet and then completed twenty-seven years of service having attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked in Traffic, Parades and Special Events, 52 Division, and 5 District Headquarters.
John then went on to a successful second career as Chief Building and Bylaw Officer for the Township of (now) Trent Lakes ON for twelve and half years.
John enjoyed various hobbies over the years, including, fishing, stained glass, throwing lawnmowers, checking tire pressure, and weather forecasts. He also enjoyed boating as a child on Four Mile Lake and later on Pigeon Lake with his beloved Grew, dragging his children all over the lake water skiing.
John is survived by his two daughters Victoria Sangrar (Hanif) and Courtenay Beaven Kent (Aubrey). Grandchildren, Paige Shantz (Jay), Koren Sangrar, Madeline, Lillian, and Finlay Kent. Great Grandchildren, Landon and Natalie Shantz. Papa John adored spending time with his Grand and Great Grandchildren and he will no doubt be comforted by reconnecting with his beloved pooch Beethoven.
Most importantly, John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judith Patricia Mackie, who faithfully, patiently, and lovingly, cared brilliantly for him.
Cremation has taken place.
John requested no Funeral or Memorial service. Instead, think of a funny time you spent with him and hold that close to your heart. He wants to be remembered with smiles and laughter only – which if required his Daughters can share stories of how they relentlessly tortured him over the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Toronto Police Widows and Orphans Fund.
