John Logan McDonald
September 30, 1951 – September 13, 2023

Aged 71, of Beaverbank NS, died peacefully on the morning of Sept 13 2023 at the QEII Hospital with his son John by his side.
John was the son of Ivy and Preston McDonald (deceased) and is survived by daughters Jody, Tawny, Sandra and Stacy and son John; sister Martha, brother Bill.
John was proud grandfather to Clara, Natasha, Alex and Connor. Great Grandfather to Jayden, Harley and Frankie.
Born and raised on a farm in Northern Alberta, John moved to Nova Scotia when he joined the navy. He dedicated 12 years to serving his country, completing two tours before receiving an honorable discharge because of a spinal injury.
At 28, he was awarded the Herbert Lott Naval Trust Fund Award for being the Top Electronic Technician in the British Commonwealth. He taught physics and math in the Navy for a number of years and helped shape the minds of future young men and women that served after him. John was a proud volunteer with the Boy Scouts of Canada and in his retirement, he enjoyed playing cards and darts with local community groups.
Out of respect for their father and per his wishes, his children grieved privately in their family home in Beaver Bank. Donations can be made to either the Boy Scouts of Canada or the Sackville branch of the legion.
