Obituary
John passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on July 13, 2023 in his 87th year. John is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Noreen (nee Page) and his four children Shawn (Carol), Lisa, Lynn (Jim) and Michelle (Derek). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Lindsay, Joshua, Dylan, Bailey, Ryley, Ruby and great grandson Hudson. John is survived by his cherished sister Carmel.
John was predeceased by his siblings Mary, Patrick, Hugh and Margaret.
Born in Roscommon Ireland, John immigrated to Canada in 1957. He met Noreen at a dance in Toronto in 1959 and they married in 1961. They moved to Bracebridge in 1970 to raise their family.
John was an active and enthusiastic member of the community participating in the Masons, the Rotary Club, the Shrine Club and numerous political campaigns. John enjoyed reading his daily papers, volunteering at community events, attending coffee with his Shrine friends, travelling and spending his winters down south. He will be fondly remembered by his family for his love of duct tape, his ability to win a game of euchre (no matter the cards he had) and the vegetable gardens he tended to.
The family would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Tina Kappos and the other members of his care team who helped to ensure his comfort and dignity in his later years.
In keeping with John’s wishes a cremation has taken place, services to be held later in July.
