Obituary
It is with deep sorrow and profound sadness that the family of John (Jack) Edward Sager announce his passing on July 14, 2023 at the age of 88 years old. Jack leaves behind and is lovingly remembered by his precious wife of 38 years, Erma. His three sons, John (Elena), James, and Donald; His Grandchildren: Shane (Donna), Christopher (Kim), Chad, Bradley, Ashley, Taylor, Victoria, Daniel (Katrina), Olivia, and Julianna; plus his amazing Great- Grandchildren: Arianna, Brayden, Lily, Maksim and Asher as well as many extended family members including Evan Fox along with numerous friends and neighbours.
Jack was born on May 30, 1935 in the small town of Rabbit Lake, Saskatchewan. Jack was pre-deceased by his first wife, Rita along with his son, Len and two sisters, Betty and Jeanne.
Jack’s thirst for knowledge coupled with a passion for excellence lead to a long lasting career with Alberta Government Telephones (AGT) and later Telus. Jack’s knowledge of electricity, engineering and computers allowed him to specialize in long distance digital switching technology. Jack was an extremely hard worker and was often found in the basement, repairing various electronic devices, including TVs. He was an incredibly gifted mechanic, framer and finishing carpenter building a number of projects including complete homes and of course toys for his loving Grandchildren. Jack shared his talents with the community by devoting countless hours to volunteer work with PAID (People Against Impaired Driver’s), MADD (Mother’s Against Drunk Driver’s), and C.O.P (Citizen’s on Patrol). Jack and Erma also provided support along with accommodations for numerous triathlon athletes in the Penticton area.
Jack will be remembered as a caring husband, his legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to our family will live on in our hearts forever. The family will miss his wisdom and excellent advice in so many areas as his depth of knowledge was vast and extensive.
In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted for MADD, C.O.P, or the charity of one’s own choice. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all whom have shown support and love during this difficult time. We take solace in knowing that Jack’s gentle soul has found rest. His remarkable spirit lives on in the legacy of care for others.
A Celebration of Life service will take place at the Mount Oliver Lutheran Church located at 205 Fir Street, Sherwood Park, AB T8A-2G6 on August 19, 2023 at 1:30 pm
