John’s Obituary
Pauzé, John G – age 90, of Wedgeport, passed away peacefully at Yarmouth Regional Hospital with family by his side on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
Born August 7, 1932 in Montréal, Québec, he was the son of the late Israel Pauzé and Marie LaFontaine.
Known to most as Johnny, he met the love of his life, Irene, in Montréal and later moved with her to her home of Wedgeport in 1954. From there, they married and started a family, bringing the Pauzé family name to Wedgeport.
He was jack of all trades, and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t figure out if given the time. For employment, he tried it all. From building oil refineries to welding to cooking for crews while out scalloping, just to name a few.
He loved being outside. Whether it was tinkering in his wood pile, his shed or just enjoying the sunshine with his little dog, Rosie, by his side.
On warmer days, you would be sure to find him rocking in his chair on the front deck, watching traffic going by or having a snooze. If you honked the horn while driving by, more times than not, both hands would go up in the air to say hello. The family often wondered if his arms would be tired by the end of the day, as he knew so many people. He left an unforgettable impression on everyone he met with his kind-hearted soul and loud but comforting voice. He was legendary and will be remembered as a true gentleman – one of a kind.
He thought the world of his family and furry friends. Listening to his many stories, you would think he lived 10 lifetimes in one. He lived life to the fullest and loved his family and those close to him just as much. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and find something in common with them and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t try at least once.
For all those who crossed his path, he left an unforgettable loving impression. If you’re reading this and new Johnny, you already know how lucky you are.
He is survived by his daughter Nicole (Ralph) Smith and sons Lionel Pauzé (Blanche) and Alan Pauzé (Wendy) along with 5 grand children and 4 great-grand children. Aside from his parents and his loving wife of 65 years, he was predeceased by his three sisters and half-brother.
The family will be receiving friends from 10:00AM leading up to the funeral mass which will be held on Monday, January 9th at 11:00AM at Huskilson’s Funeral Home in Wedgeport, with Father Albéni d’Entremont officiating. Internment to follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or the Gilles Boudreau and Friends Cancer Help Fund.
