Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving partner Noella, on Monday July 3, 2023, at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, John Joseph Fagan, of Gaskiers, S.M.B. (formerly of Riverhead), aged 78 years.
Predeceased by his parents Leo & Gertrude (nee Lee) Fagan, sister-in-law Peg Fagan, aunt Monnie, uncle Reg (Brennie), cousins Kevin Lee and Lloyd Lee and brother-in-law Lloyd Ryan
John leaves to mourn his loving partner of 22 years, Noella, his brother Don, grandson Coady, whom he considered the son he never had, Noella’s daughter Holly, son Dennis (Lori) and their families, John’s cousins: Madeline (Harry), Gerald (Bernadette), Kevin’s wife Helena, his brothers-in-law; Johnny (Rita), Eddy, Mike (Deb), and sisters-in-law Patricia (Tish) (d. John also leaves to mourn his longlong friends Alan, Anne and Tom Lee, his friends in the St. Mary’s Car Club, his cousins and uncles of the Fagan family and Noella’s cousins of the Ryan and Dobbin families.
John leaves behind his dearest furry friend Cookie, who miss him very much.
John worked in the X-Ray Department at the General Hospital/ Health Sciences Complex for 35 years. When John retired he left behind many co-workers and friends whom he kept in contact with over the years.
John had a great interest in antique cars. He even made a guest star appearance in the 2011 Land & Sea Episode, “Car Buffs of the Bay”. John’s pride and joy was his 63 Ford Galaxy 500. John was a founding member of the St. Mary’s Car Club and a longtime member of the NFLD Antique and Classic Car Club.
John looked forward to his Saturday evening visits to Michael White’s shed and his regular Sunday morning visits to John Gibbons’ store. He enjoyed meting up with other antique car owners from all over at the annual Gulch Beach Festival each Summer and was known for having the first antique car in the Bay. He also enjoyed the great outdoors and spending time at the cabin.
Sincere thank you to John and Noella’s cousins, friends and the customers of Noella’s Hair Salon. Special thank you also to Jean and George Gibbons for their kindness and respect at this difficult time. There will be a graveside burial service in the new cemetery in St. Mary’s, at a time to be announced, to be followed by a luncheon at the Gaskiers’ Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend.
