John, Andrew Michiels
1946-2023
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, father-in law, papa, brother, uncle and friend. John passed away in his 77th year with his family by his side at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Thursday, March 9, 2023. Born in Langemark, Belgium on August 3, 1946 to Julian Michiels (1978) and Irma (nee Platteeuw) Michiels (2008). Most devoted husband and best friend to Diane for 56 years. Loving and dedicated father to Lisa (Tim) and Brian (Stephanie). John was an amazing papa to Jaden, Logan, Trinity and Madison. Dearest brother to Andy, loving uncle to Wayne (Carole) and Vicky (Ron) and their children. John was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Robert (1986), sister-in-law Angelina (1994), mother-in-law Olive (2015) and father-in-law Walter (2019). Working together with their families, John and his brother proudly grew tobacco for many years. He will be remembered by many as a quiet and gentle soul who loved his family dearly.
In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family liturgical service will be held at Ostrander’s Funeral Home with Father Seejo John officiating. The family asks that memorial donations in memory of John be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Canadian Lung Association, and may be made by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) who have been a trusted with arrangements.
