It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of John Alexander McDonald on January 20, 2023, at the age of 88 years.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of 60 years, Sylvia; daughter, Kelly (Rene) Attwell; and granddaughter, Breanna (Morgan) Myrick. John will also fondly be remembered by his extended family and many friends. John was predeceased by his grandson, Joshua, in 2014.
John had a full life spending time with family and friends and could always be found at any one of his grandchildren’s sporting events where he was quick to strike up a conversation with anyone, always making new friends. He also touched the life of many through all of his volunteer work within the community and various sports organizations.
A Celebration of John’s life will be held at 10:00 on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at
Connelly-McKinley Downtown Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street, Edmonton.
The service will be live streamed.
Cremation has taken place
Memorial Donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation/Cross Cancer Institute.
