Obituary of Joe-Anne Atkinson
Atkinson, Joe-Anne (nee McGaffey)
Edna Joe-Anne Atkinson passed away suddenly at the Windsor Regional Hospital on Monday, February 13, 2023 at the age of 78 with her niece and caregiver Kim at her side.
Born in Chatham on June 5, 1944 to the late Harry & Edna (nee Everitt) McGaffey.
She is reunited with her late husband, Brian Atkinson and her infant son, Brent.
Survived by her sisters, Sally McGlashan, Pat Franklin & Karin Neilstra and sister-in-law, Mary Jane McGaffey & Bert McGaffey.
Predeceased by her brothers, Bill, James & Dan McGaffey. Brother-in-laws, Art Franklin, Rolf Neilstra & sister-in-law, Joy McGaffey.
Survived by step-daughter, Laura Correnti & Brent Atkinson (Roberta).
Grandmother of Christopher & Matthew Correnti and Vanessa & Brandon Atkinson, and one great-grandchild.
Loved by many nieces, nephews & great-nieces and nephews, special friend & caregiver, Amanda & Ryan Lachine. Also loving friend of Chris & Bob Guyett.
Joe-Anne spent her earliest years by caring for the elderly and palliative patients.
Joe-Anne loved animals and will be missed by her fur babies, Maggie & Precious and the many more that came before them.
Joe-Anne & Brian were very active in the Civitan & Special Olympic in Montreal.
Family & friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St Clair Street, Chatham from 11:00 am until a Service of Joe-Anne’s life at 1:00 pm. Cremation to follow with interment at a later date.
Donations made in memory of Joe-Anne may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Shriners Hospital.
