Jody Thompson, who loved to be called “Mom” by her kids, sadly departed her loving family far to soon on August 17th 2023 after a 4 year hard fought battle with cancer at the young age of 41.
Jody was born in Red Deer, Alberta on May 20th, 1982 to Terry and Ken Williamson where she graduated from Lindsey Thurber Highschool and then completed her Business Degree at Red Deer College. Jody enjoyed her large extended family in central Alberta and would rarely miss a family gathering where she could often be seen spending time with her Grandparents playing cards, listening to their stories and sharing her own to their always captivated attention.
Jody is mother to Marysa Aiden Thompson and Tristan Reese Thompson. She raised her children with love and devotion at the side of her husband Troy Thompson of 20 years.
She is survived by her mother Terry and father Ken, her children, husband, and her brother Paul Williamson. Jody has several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and many friends, but also a strong sistership with her loving sisters-in-law and mother-in-law Diane Thompson.
Jody and her family (Troy, Marysa and Tristan) resided in Red Deer Alberta for 14 years then began a new journey in Qualicum Beach, Vancouver Island for 6 years only to once again return to Alberta this year to be close to family and friends. She devoted her life to her children leaving her career when her first child was born and lived everyday after as the family’s cornerstone. She loved all the simple joys, early morning coffees, a good book, her gardens and photography. She walked this earth with grace, earning love and respect with the kindness and purity of her actions and words.
An open Graveside Service will be held at the Sundre Cemetery on August 27th at 2:00pm. We would like to extend an invitation to all the family and friends of Jody and Troy Thompson.
