Obituary of Joan McKinnon
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce that Joan passed away Friday, February 10, 2023, at the Strathmore Hospital. She spent her final hours with her girls smiling and laughing about a few of the countless fun memories of her past.
“Joanie” loved to have fun and was always up for a drink and a visit. She had a big heart and always wanted to help if she could. She loved to smack talk Elizabeth and Jackson when they played any game at all. She was able to babysit Quynn, Zander and Nevaeh and they had a great bond and loved each other endlessly. When she got together with Dona, Lachie and Laurie you could always count on fun times and big belly laughs.
Joan is predeceased by her parents, Neil and Lucille McKinnon, as well as her partner Allen Snydmiller. She is survived by her daughters Kim (Pat) Proust and Laura (Bill) Elliott; grandchildren Elizabeth, Jackson, Quynn, Zander and Nevaeh; siblings Dona (Grant) Klaiber, Lachie McKinnon and Laurie Kernaghan; and all of her nieces and nephews. Danny (Sherri) Snydmiller, Wendy (Lloyd) Visser, Brenda Hoff, Steve Snydmiller and their families.
A short Celebration of Life followed by beverages, conversation and laughs will be held Thursday, February 16, 2023, at the Strathmore Royal Canadian Legion Hall #10 at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent directly to Wheatland EMS (196 Brent Blvd, Strathmore, AB, T1P 1E8) in Joan’s name.
