Obituary of Jim Pettipas
James (Jim Sr.) Charles Pettipas, passed away June 30th, 2023. He was the son of the late James Walter Pettipas and Anita Esther (Fraser) Pettipas.
Jim is survived by his loving wife June Mary (Cinnamon) Pettipas and his son James (Jim Jr.) Herman Pettipas and grandson Tristan James Pettipas.
Jim graduated from Pictou Regional Vocational High School in June1970. He graduated in carpentry and worked in that field for several years. In later years he took an interest in electronics and worked in that capacity for several years.
As a young man his father took him and his brothers out hunting and he learned to appreciate the woods and stalking the wild life. He bought a hunting license every year even after he was no longer interested in shooting anything he just loved to be out in the woods and tracking the animals.
Another activity he really enjoyed was fishing and camping. Every weekend and holidays he would go camping by a lake and he would be out on the water for the day fishing, everyday possible. Jim enjoyed playing sports, being a pitcher in baseball, a badminton player in singles and doubles. In later years he was enticed to play golf and even though he didn’t consider himself a good golfer he did enjoy the company of the club members.
He decided to change career again and went from electronics to car sales . When he retired he moved back to Nova Scotia. Jim decided he would like a part-time job so he became a school bus driver and he really did enjoy that. He said that most of the kids were pretty good. Due to health reasons he had to retire from this career.
Jim was the eldest of 10 children, his family was very important to him. He is survived by his brothers, Fred (Fay) Pettipas, Greg Pettipas, Eric (Debbie) Pettipas, Albert Pettipas; his sisters, Lisa Pettipas, Sandra Reid, and Mary Lou Thompson.
Jim was predeceased by his brothers William A. (Bill ) Pettipas and Walter F. Pettipas.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
