Former National CAW Representative (UNIFOR) and former President of UAW Local 112 deHavilland Aircraft.
Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, July 28th, 2023, at Lakeridge Health Ajax. Beloved husband of the late Mary “Juliet” Dias. Loving father of Donna (David) Endicott, Rosemarie Dias, Jacqueline (Harvey) Curl and Jerry (Leslie) Dias. Cherished grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Norma, Bridget, Aplona, Thomas, the late Caesar, and Louise. Jerry will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Jerry was a passionate advocate for the rights of working people. His quick wit, unfiltered humour, and brilliant mind will be missed by everyone that knew him.
The family wish to thank the staff of Revera Westney Gardens and Lakeridge Health Ajax for their loving and compassionate care of Jerry.
Visitation will be held at the DeStefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa (south side of Taunton Road, east of Thornton Road) 905-440-4595 on Friday August 4th from 7:00-9:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday August 5th at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Whitby. If desired, memorial donations may be made on behalf of his beloved wife Juliet Dias, to the Alzheimer’s Society of Durham Region (www.alzheimer.ca/en/durham).
