Jasper Alexander Mills, of Miramichi, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 78.
Born in Black River, NB, he was the son of the late Charlotte (Williston) and John Robinson Mills. He was the owner of J. Mills Painting, and a member of St Andrew’s Anglican Church.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Jackie (Maltby) Tozer of Miramichi; children Sandra Gauger (Jeff) of Bay du Vin, Alexander “Sandy” Mills of Miramichi, Perry (Sharon) of Miramichi and Allen (Rachelle) of Escuminac; stepchildren Sterling Tozer (Vickie) of Moncton, Darryl Tozer (Kathy) of Lower Coverdale, Jason Tozer (Angela) of Fredericton, and Susan Lee (Bruce) of Miramichi; his brother Lloyd Mills of Miramichi; grandchildren Waylon, Joshua, Rebecca, Sabrina, Colin, Sara, Brett, Brian, Kayla, Tara, Mason, Meagan, Jackson, Lauren, Ryan, and Logan; great grandchildren Eva, Reese, Claire, Caleb, Miguel, Jacob, Cole, Vanson, and Jace; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Bliss Mills; and sisters Marjorie McLenaghan and Blanche McDougall.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 6 to 8 pm, and on Friday, June 30, 2023, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 10 am, from Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Thomas Nisbett officiating. Interment will take place in Miramichi Cemetery following the service.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, or to a memorial of one’s choice.
