James Peter (aka “J.P.” or “Jim”) MacDonald of Hanover, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at the Hanover and District Hospital in his 76th year.
Dearly missed by his beloved wife Eileen (Nee Russwurm, Dillon). Stepfather to Ron (Sherri) Dillon and Chad (Bridget) Dillon both of Walkerton. Proud step-grandfather of Kristen, Lauren, and Justin Dillon. Jim will also be missed by his sister Heather Marchildon of Tecumseh and brothers-in-law Murray Russwurm and Winston Riley both of Mildmay, as well as nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by brother-in-law Bernie Marchildon and sister-in-law Madeline Riley.
Jim grew up in Parry Sound and excelled in hockey, playing with well-known team members during his younger years. Golf and fishing were hobbies he enjoyed sharing with his grandchildren and buddies where you would often hear his famous chuckle. Jim worked in the financial field and was known as J.P. to his colleagues and friends, many of whom he kept in contact.
It was Jim’s wish to have a quiet departure. At his request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held for family and friends at Jim and Eileen’s home on Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. Jim’s wish is for people to enjoy each other every day.
As expressions of sympathy donations to the Saugeen Hospice (www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/saugeen-hospice-incorporated/) and the Hanover and District Hospital Foundation (www.hdhf.ca/donate-567678.html) would be appreciated.
