James (Jim) Nowlan, husband of Irène (LeBlanc) for
70 years, of Moncton, passed away at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC
surrounded by his family on Friday August 11, 2023 at 96 years of age.
Born in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, he was the son of the late Robert and
Claira (Ouellette) Nowlan.
Prior to his retirement, James worked as a plant supervisor
for Brookfield Dairies for 32 years, which later became
Scotsburn.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his three loving
daughters: Roberta Nowlan-Smith (Vernon) of Beaumont Alberta, Ann
LeBlanc (Georges) and Janice McDonald (Brian) both of Dieppe; seven
grandchildren: Kimberly (Tristan), Jeffrey, Amy (David), Luc (Laura),
Christine (Julien), Marc (Julia) and Martin (Melissa); 13
great-grandchildren: Xavier, Atticus, Calvin, Henry, Theodore, Nevaeh,
Makahia, Ezekiel, Owen, Maelle, Malex, Louis and Benoit; as well as
many nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his
immediate family and was proud of that accomplishment.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters and
brothers: Mai, Lilianne, Stella, Johnny and Arthur; one half-brother,
Robert; several step-sisters and step-brothers; one grandson
François (2002) who had a special place in
James’s heart.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) where the
funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday August 16 at 4 pm.
Visiting hours are Wednesday from 2pm to
until time of funeral. The funeral service will be streamed live; to
view the funeral, go to his obituary on our website. James will be
resting at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery in Dieppe. In his memory, a
contribution to the IWK Foundation or the CHU Dumont Foundation would
be appreciated.
