Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacqueline (Jackie) Burden on Wednesday, July 12th, 2023, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 75.
Beloved wife of 52 years to Derek Burden. Proud Mother of Amy (Paul) and Grandmother of Marek, Emersynn and the light of her life Isla. Dear Sister of Marina (Cyril). She also leaves to mourn Brothers and Sisters in-law Florence, Brian (Nina), and Cliff (Mary). She will fondly be remembered by many other relatives and friends who she created many cherished memories with and touched the lives of. Predeceased by her Parents John and Eudora Parsons, Son Stephen, Brother Jack, as well as Parents in-law Theodore and Mary Burden, Sisters and Brothers in-law Georgia, Myrtle (Wilfred), George and Melvin.
In recent years, many special people have entered her life. Her caregivers Darlene Young, Ida Noel and Jackie Collett have had an immense impact on Jackie’s days at home. They lifted her spirits and brightened her days providing endless amounts of laughter, support and love while quickly becoming part of her family. Her friend Phyllis Griffin provided her with companionship and reminiscent memories of their nursing days which Jackie so excitedly spoke of.
Dr. Fudge was able to build a therapeutic relationship, gaining Jackie’s trust and guiding her through her journey. Her highly spoke of Dialysis nurses made long days bearable, monitoring her closely while providing special care and attention along the way. Public health nurse Melinda Payne who oversaw Jackie’s care at home, allowing her to have comfort and security, and was another friendly face for Jackie to look forward to seeing. The many close family and friends who have helped through the years, and have consistently been there, your love and support have been an integral part in providing Jackie peace and comfort throughout her many journeys.
Visitation will be held at Shoal Brook United Church on Sunday July 16th, 2023, from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Where also the funeral service will take place on Monday July 17th, 2023, at 2pm. Interment will follow at St. Andrews United Church Cemetery, Woody Point.
Flowers graciously accepted and any donations to be made to St. Andrews Cemetery, Woody Point, in Jackie’s memory would be graciously appreciated.
We know that our grieving families still need to feel the same level of support from you their family, friends, loved ones and community.
