PAQUETTE, J.C. Bernard – passed away peacefully at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Tuesday September 5, 2023 at the age of 93. Born in St. André Est, Quebec on August 16, 1930, he was the 6th of 11 children of Emile Paquette and Olivina Larose. Bernard came to Chippawa, Ontario in 1951 and in 1952 married the late Celia Manahan (Nov. 24, 2020). He was a volunteer firefighter in Chippawa for over 20 years and was an avid duck hunter, fisherman and golfer who enjoyed sharing that love of fishing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his children Sally Wilkie (Bill) and Rick Paquette (Kelly) and 5 grandchildren, Bill Wilkie (Kristin), Becky Wilkie (Mark Leifl), Laura Wilkie (Chris DeLorme), all of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Sarah Ignaszak (Jason) of Burlington, Ontario, and Andrea Paquette-Weickert (Matthew), of London, Ontario, as well as 6 great grandchildren, William and Nora Wilkie, Hudson, Mae and Penny Leifl and David Weickert. He will be remembered by his 3 sisters-in-law, Florence Paquette and Colette Paquette of Quebec and Irene Manahan of Scarborough, Ontario as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his siblings Pauline Ladouceur, Mariette Charlebois, Marie Jeanne Lalande, Jean Maurice Paquette, Denise Lefebvre, Denis Paquette, Jacques Paquette, Louis George Paquette, André Paquette and Gaétan Paquette all of Quebec. In keeping with Bernard’s wishes, a private interment has already taken place at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Chippawa. Arrangements entrusted to Morse & Son Funeral Home, 5917 Main Street, Niagara Falls. If desired, memorial donations in Bernard’s memory to the Chippawa Volunteer Firefighters Association would be appreciated by the family.
