95+ wondrous trips around the
sun.
Irene
Clark (nee
Sellick), born in Alberton, PEI, passed
peacefully, August 8,
2023, surrounded
in love by her children, grandchildren, and loved ones. She shared
with all who knew
her a lifetime of love, laughter,
adventures, importance of family, a love of travel, and learning new
things, and the joy a cookie can
bring.
Irene loved an adventure and boldly set off to
live abroad with her children, Jacqueline and
Maxine, and
husband Jack
Clark, in Peshawar,
Pakistan, for five years, for the
construction of the Warsak
dam. Vacations
were spent exploring the world, gathering friends, and wonderful
memories. Upon their return
to Canada, they
welcomed their third daughter, Lisa, and reconnected with friends and
family here on Prince Edward Island. New opportunities took the family
west to Alberta, where they revelled
in exploring the
Rockies. Upon the death of her
husband, John Keir (Jack) Clark, in 1970, Irene dove into night
school, educating herself as
a bookkeeper, and
enjoyed many years working for the Calgary Exhibition and
Stampede.
In 1974 Irene married Scot
Olson (1926-2011), and joyously
celebrated many
beautiful life moments: births
of grandchildren
and great-grandchildren,
weddings, family holidays, graduations, camping, river rafting,
cruises, Christmas in the
Alps. Her love of new adventures and
experiences is the story of her
life.
When Irene reached her
8th decade
she embraced hiking,
joined a
sales team
at Dreamview Village, explored South
America by cruise ship,
volunteered at
thrift stores,
while always
being present for her family. The ninth decade brought mini golf,
bridge games, socials and lots of
laughter and
love with Ed Anderson. Travelling
and exploring the world happened thru the adventures of her children
and grandchildren, as she always had time to listen to
their latest
adventures and travel
stories.
Irene loved her
family deeply and was deeply loved. Throughout her life she gathered
many friends, loved ones, and became Nana and Great Nana to
many.
Irene is survived by her daughter Lisa (Brian
Dallin), sons-in-law, Peter Copple (Jacquie 1947-2017) and Tom Moslow
(Maxine 1951-2006).
Grandchildren, Nicole Stephenson (Shane), Jon Copple (Kristie),
Christophir
Connoly (Sabrina),
Lauren Moslow, and Ryan
Moslow. Great-grandchildren,
Isabelle, Jack, and Alice. Siblings Vera
Sellick, Jean
(Bill) Mulligan, Walter (Linda) Sellick, and
David (Marilyn) Sellick.
A life so
very well
lived.
Mom, Nana, Irene, we
love and will miss
you. Until
we meet again may your legacy live on through
us, living our best lives, and
leaving this world
a better place as
you taught us.
interment to take place
later in Hillcrest United Church Cemetery,
Alberton.
