Obituary of Irena Skowronski
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, Irena Skowronski, on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at the age of 71. She is reunited in Heaven with her husband of 26 years, Julian Skowronski, who passed away in 2001. Cherished mother to: Ewa (Rob) Kreamer, Milosz (Samantha) and Piotr (Andrea); babcia to her sunshine Aidan.
In 1986, Irena, Julian, and their children emigrated from Poland to build a better life in Canada. The sacrifices and inherent challenges of an immigrant family were met by Irena with resilience and perseverance.
Irena will be remembered for her compassion, selflessness and generous nature. Her gentle love and kindness never failed to warm the hearts of those in her presence. Irena lived with quiet dignity and incredible strength. Her strong faith gave her ongoing comfort and now gives her family comfort that she is at peace.
The family will receive visitors at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Tuesday, March 21 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 5 Oblate Street, St. Catharines on Wednesday, March 22 at 11:00 am with a private family burial to take place at a later date.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Hospice Niagara for their compassionate care over the past few weeks.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Niagara would be greatly appreciated.
