MONCTON, NB – Thomas Michael “Mike” Bembridge, 81, died peacefully with his family by his side at the Moncton Hospital, on Friday, February 24, 2023.
Mike enjoyed an esteemed career in journalism spanning 35 years, retiring in 1996 from The Times-Transcript as Publisher.
Mike was an active member of his community contributing his time and devotion to many organizations. He was the proud recipient of the Governor General Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers in recognition of his significant and continuous contribution to his community.
Born in Halifax, NS, he was the son of the late John Thomas Bembridge and his wife Mary Louise.
Mike will be sadly missed by: Marion Bembridge (Osborne) his wife of 56 years; his sons: Christopher of Toronto, Craig of Moncton and Cory (Stacey) of Boundary Creek; his grandchildren: Jayme (Joe) and Madison (Noel); his siblings: Phyllis-Joyce Awad (late Joseph), Paul Frederick Bembridge (late Elizabeth), Stephen Thomas Wood (Judy) all of Dartmouth, and Aliceson Frederick S. Bembridge of Montreal; his sister-in-law: Carolyn Bembridge of Yellowknife; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother: John Anthony Bembridge.
As per Mike’s wishes, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A celebration of his life will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church, 51 Church Street, Moncton, NB, on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 2:00 PM.
In Mike’s memory, a donation can be made to the Karing Kitchen, St. George’s Anglican church or a charity of your choice.
