Cocagne, NB. – Léon Després, 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, January 18th, 2023 at the Moncton Hospital.
Born in Cocagne, he was the son of the late Lucien and the late Marguerite Després (Goguen).
Léon will be sadly missed by his two daughters: Chantal (Guy) Després of Cocagne and Giselle (Gabriel) Cormier of Notre-Dame; the mother of his children, Linda Després of Notre-Dame; his grandson, Alek Cormier; his two brothers: Joseph (Francine) of McKees Mills and Jean-Guy of Moncton; his four sisters: Lucienne of Cocagne, Louise (Allan) of Ontario, Jeanne (Merritt) of Havelock, and Rose-Marie of Grande-Digue; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Armand; his sister, Diane; as well as his infant sister, Berthe.
The family would like to extend their appreciation by dedicating a special thank you to the Moncton Hospital Palliative unit, and to Amanda and her staff at Foyer Côte d’Or for the care and compassion they gave.
Visitations will be held at Passage Funeral Home (3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge) on Tuesday, January 24th, 2023 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm and from 5:30pm until time of service.
Funeral service will be held in the chapel at 7:00pm.
Donations in Léon’s memory can be made to the Foyer Côte d’Or in Cocagne.
