Obituary
After a long, full life, Hugh A. McLean peacefully passed away on May 7, 2023 in his 95th year. Devoted husband to the late Marie A. McLean (2014) for 54 years. Most precious Dad to Susan and Allan Bunz, Carolyn and Michael Lucier, and Alison Kolonics. Caring Grampie to Karen, Amanda and Kyle, Kayla, Rebecca, Matthew, Daniel, and Adam, and Great-Grampie to Bennett.
Hugh is predeceased by his brothers Don (Lois) and Clark. Uncle Hugh will be missed by his nieces and nephews Linda, Sandy, Mark, Ian, Jim, and Heather, and their families.
Hugh attended Westdale Secondary School and won many championships as a member of the high school rifle team. As a teenager, he ran a grass cutting business with his brother, Clark, and was an active member of Scouts Canada. He was a Ryerson Institute of Technology alumnus, going to school to become a watchmaker. He was a dedicated employee of Bell Canada for 33 years. Hugh was a long-time member of St. James United Church in Waterdown and volunteered his time on the Building and Grounds Committee. He supported his wife for many years through all her Girl Guides of Canada endeavours, especially Camp Kiawa. Hugh was a quiet, thoughtful man who loved to laugh, camp, and listen to big band music. His family was the most important thing in his life.
A heartfelt thank you to the nurses, PSWs, and staff at Alexander Place in Waterdown for their kind and compassionate care.
