Obituary
Howard Douglas “Doug” Riddell
1942 – 2023
The family of Douglas Riddell wishes to announce his peaceful passing on January 1, 2023 at the Carleton Place Hospital. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. He was the beloved husband of Lynda Riddell (nee Hanson), dear father to Todd Riddell, and Rena Minkus (Richard Minkus). He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his grandchildren Robin (mother, Patricia Lackie), Joel and Logan Minkus, his sister Donna Lea Gilbert, nephew Adam Gilbert (Monica) and great niece and nephew Ava and Nolan Gilbert. Predeceased by his parents Florence Riddell (nee Baird) and Clarence Riddell.
Doug was born in Kinburn, Ontario and grew up in Renfrew. He was proud to be from the Ottawa Valley and was always happy to share stories to friends and family alike. He enjoyed many years with the Civitan Club in Pembroke and the Duplicate Bridge Club in Almonte. With a laugh that filled the room, he will be forever remembered.
Special thanks to Dr. Maria Bastin Millar for her amazing care and kindness, Dr. Emily Myers, Cindy and all the nurses and staff and the Carleton Place hospital.
Friends may support the family at a Celebration of Doug’s life to be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, 19 McArthur Ave, Carleton Place at 11 a.m. until a service is held in the Chapel at 12 noon with a reception to follow.
