Obituary For Hilda Anne Townsend (nee Czubey)
Hilda Townsend, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Mackenzie Place, at the age of 93 years.
Hilda was born and raised in Bruno, SK. She moved to Winnipeg, MB, to go to nursing school. That is where she met and married Walter Czubey. They moved to Grande Prairie to settle down and raise their family. Hilda enjoyed working at the Swanavon Nursing Home, her passion was working with seniors. In 1978, she met and married Gordon Townsend, they enjoyed working at G.P. Armories together.
Hilda loved having coffee with friends, playing her guitar, and singing. She also enjoyed volunteering.
Hilda will be sadly missed by her daughter Linda Robbins (nee Czubey); sons Allan (Gloria) Czubey and Glenn (Margaret) Czubey; son in-law Leroy Robbins; grandchildren: Rena, Micheal, Jamie (Vicki), Amanda (Todd), Robert (Ally), and Lesley (Ken) Robbins; great-grandchildren: Kolton (Maddy), Saehla, Hannah, Triston, Skyler, Alectra, Karley, Eduard, Jessie, Bella, Savannah, Samuel, Danica, Kaysen, Austin, Tyson, and Savanah; her twin brother Al Eckstein; as well as sisters Mary and Elaine.
She was predeceased by her husbands Walter Czubey and Gordon Townsend; father William Eckstein; mother Rosalie Eckstein; brothers: Bill, Tony, Daniel, and Reynold; as well as sisters Lydia, Martha, and Olga.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the caring staff at Mackenzie Place, as well as to Dr. Noga.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 2:00pm, at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (84th Ave. and 112th St.).
