It is with heavy hearts we, the family of Herman Wilfred MacDonald, announce his passing on Saturday, May 13th,2023 at home surrounded by family and loved ones.
Herman was a natural storyteller and was graced with the gift of gab. He always enjoyed spending time in St. Peter’s chatting with friends and was the self-proclaimed Foodland greeter. He always enjoyed sneaking a sweet treat but often gave himself away with the grin on his face. Herman was a man of family and friends and was happiest when accompanied by a home-cooked meal and tunes. Anyone who knew Herman knew he was his children’s and grandchildren’s biggest fan; Joey was the best barber, Melissa was the greatest mom, and Jason was his favorite musician.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years LucyAnn (Bona); Furry pal Riley; Children, Joey (Robin) and Jason (Alicia), Melissa (Daniel); grandchildren Jenna (Shane), Gracie, Chloe, Tessa (Isaac), Bella, Norman, Kelton, Delia and Ryder, brother Billy, niece Cara and step-siblings Rene, Georgie, Chuck, Pam and Tammy. He was predeceased by birth parents Cora and Joe MacDonald and Leona and Alfred Landry, who raised him as their own. He was also predeceased by great-grandson Callum in infancy and in-laws Clara and Lawrence Bona.
Special thanks to VON, the palliative care team, the L’Ardoise volunteer fire department, and all who cared for him in his time of need, especially his special friend Lester Fougere and nephew Alvin Bona.
Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday May 19th,2023 at Holy Guardian Angels Catholic Parish Church L’Ardoise. Burial to follow at the Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Unit.
