WATERWORTH, Henriette “Bunny”
Henriette Waterworth, age 90, of Peterborough, Ontario, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2023. She was born on September 25, 1932, in Sudbury, Ontario, to Justine Desroches, and legally adopted by Alphonse and Elzire Sicotte who were devoted parents.
Bunny was known for her quick wit. She had a great sense of humor and was often described as funny, sarcastic, and sassy. In the face of her illness, she retained these memorable traits and her strong will. Bunny’s loved ones will always remember her desire to be in the centre of any event. Bunny is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Waterworth in 2019. She is survived by her brother Gerard Sicotte (Marie deceased) and her nieces Nicole and Carole (deceased). Bunny’s children, Rachelle Seguin (Rob Lipson), JoAnne Seguin (Victoria, BC), Philip Seguin (Virginia) of Toronto, Julie Sokolowski (Dale), Peterborough, and Andre Seguin (Caroline Clark), Ottawa, will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Bunny also leaves behind her grandchildren, Amber, Eban, Johnathan, Jennifer, Melanie (predeceased), Mark, Brian, Jill, Isabelle, Leo, and her great-grandchildren Benjamin and Olivia.
Bunny was an avid quilter, seamstress, and knitter. Quilting was her passion. Her creations were a testament to her creativity and skill. She created hundreds of quilts for charity with the Kawartha Quiltmakers Guild “Helping Hands.” She donated them to help abused women and palliative care patients. She has left behind many beautiful quilts for her family.
Bunny spent many years as a classroom teacher then as a French teacher. She also sold real estate and insurance.
Bunny spent the latter 30 years of her life discovering and learning many new things. She learned how to downhill ski and ride a bicycle, she went sailing, travelled to many places, and camped and canoed in Algonquin Provincial Park.
Bunny found solace and spiritual nourishment at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, her place of worship. The Roman Catholic Church was a source of comfort and community for her throughout her life.
A private family gathering will be held to celebrate Bunny’s life and to join her ashes with Jack’s, as he has been waiting for her since December, 2019.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of her favourite charities, the Covenant House in Toronto or Medecins San Frontieres (MSF) in Bunny’s name.
Bunny Waterworth will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her love for her family, and her zest for life. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.
