Helen Barbara Cook
(Née Joyce)
April 27, 1952 – July 5, 2023
Corner Brook, NL
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Helen Cook announce her passing Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Western Long Term Care, Palliative Care Unit at the age of 71 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, her husband Ivor; daughters: Sherri-Lynn (Johnny) and Tina (Chad), both of Calgary, AB; four precious grandchildren: Brandon, Jesse, Janelle, and Luke; “special brother” Stan Beales (Irene); as well as many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She is predeceased by her parents William and Veronica Joyce. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Western Long Term Care, Palliative Unit, as well to Eddie Joyce and the Joyce family, Glenda Beales and the Beales family, and Annette Beales Anthony (Joe) and family, Veronica Hickey (Ray), for your support, love, and comfort during these difficult times. We would also like to express our gratitude to Billy Larson whose creative and artistic work is so lovingly expressed in Mom’s urn.
Granting her wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no formal visitation or funeral service. Friends and family are welcome to attend a prayer vigil at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Sunday, July 9 at 3:00 p.m., Father Ed Terry presiding. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
