DZIAWA, Helen Shaw (nee HIPSON)
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Helen, our loving and devoted great grandmother, grandmother, mother and friend. She left us suddenly on December 19th, 2022 at her home in Port Robinson, Ontario. She was in her 94th year.
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Helen travelled across the Atlantic to a new life in Canada. She found employment and became a dedicated, longtime employee at the Buntin Reid Paper Co. She made many friends here and treasured these friendships throughout her life.
Helen was the cherished and beloved mother of June and Michael (Mary), proud Nana of grandchildren Daniel (Veronika), Carolyn, Melissa (Mladen) and Valerie and great grandmother to Luka, Viktor and Mia. Most of all, Nana loved her family and friends and instilled strong and decent values in her children and grandchildren that have served them well. She will be remembered for her wonderful baking, especially her Irish Soda Bread, Rum cake and currant squares. She amazed family and friends with her quick wit, wonderful sense of humour and knowledge of current affairs. We know she will be cheering on the Raptors.
Our mother and Nana was always unselfish, kind, loyal, generous, honourable and true in all her ways. Loving and faithful, she will forever hold a very special place in our hearts.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life is planned for the summer of 2023 to remember Helen when her favourite flowers are in bloom.
