GLENDA GLADYS MABBUTT (Nee: Gray)
AUGUST 29, 1938 – AUGUST 17, 2023
84 YEARS OF AGE
It is with heavy hearts we announce the loss of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Glenda. She passed in peace with her daughter Tara at her side on the afternoon of August 17th.
Glenda was born in Spruce Canyon, Alberta in the days of the great depression. She grew up in a home of frugality, where money, possessions and food were scarce. Although her home was poor, it was rich in love, friendship, imagination and determination with her 5 siblings. Glenda moved throughout her childhood, living in Spruce Canyon, Fort Saskatchewan, Red Water and Bon Accord. Glenda met the love of her life, Buck in 1953 at a dance in Gibbons. They were married in 1956 and had 3 children by 1964. They resided in Edmonton, Sherwood Park and Gibbons, and finally moved to their farm in Drayton Valley in the summer of 1973 where she lived until Buck’s death in 2021.She then went on to live with her daughter Tara and son in law Darren until moving into Points West Care Home until her passing. Mom will be remembered for her love of children, dancing, singing, cooking, baking, reading, fishing, crossword puzzles and mostly spending time with her beloved family from near and far.
Glenda is survived by her three children; Don (Ali), Amy Hart, Tara (Darren) Harris. Nine beloved grandchildren; Jason, Aaron (Krysten), Kelsey (Megan), Lucas (Taylor), Heather, Justin (Taria), Cody (Casey), Ryley (Karen), Aria (Russell). Her adored great grandchildren; Zoe, Odin & Lexie (mom Lori), Adley, Isabelle, Sophie, Lisa, Tristan, Maddie, Hunter, Oliver, Tristin, Ryatt, Ember, Brooklyn, Avery, Brady, Colbie, Harper, John, Lucas, and Mollie. She is also survived by her sister in laws Shirley Fraser and Wilma Gray, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and her special care givers and friends at Points West Living.
Glenda was predeceased by her beloved husband Buck, father George Gray, brothers Don and Rex as well as her sisters Mona, Shirley and Carol.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Drayton Valley Food Bank as this organization was near and dear to her and Buck’s hearts.
A memorial service will follow at a later date. Internment will be a private family service. Mom will be laid to rest at the Bon Accord Cemetery.
