It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Gladys Queen FitzGerald (nee. Preston) announce her peaceful passing on Friday, February 17th, 2023, at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility. She will be forever loved and missed by her husband of 65 years: James Sr.; her brother: Gerald; sister-in-law: Sheila Elstob (Ed); children: Jim (Wanda), Don (Edwina), Ruth (George), Maureen (Kevin), Karen (Dave), and Barbara (Jerry); grandchildren: Kathy (Scott), Michael, Jason (Dorian), Danika (Derrick), Deicha (Paul), Ryan, Spencer, Kyle, and Maggie; great-grandchildren: Peter, Emma, Sammie, Zarek, Rylan, Isaac, River, and Damien; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Gladys is now in the loving arms of her mother and father: Albertha and Joseph Preston; and reunited with her brothers: Bill (Violet), Bob (Dorothy), and Max (Ethel); her sisters: Joyce, and Mae (Leonard); brother-in-law: Tom; and sisters-in-law: Vera, Valarie (John), and Marjorie.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at Bungalow 4, and 3 North at the Corner Brook LTC. All of your kindness and compassion shown during out mother’s time of need was greatly appreciated, and will never be forgotten.
As per Gladys’ wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a small visitation held for family and friends on Tuesday, February 21st, 2023 at Country Haven Funeral Home from 7-8 PM. There will be no formal funeral service or interment at this time. As expressions of sympathy, no flowers by request, instead a donation can be made in Gladys’ memory to the Corner Brook SPCA.
