Gladys Evelyn Foran
January 26, 1932 — August 23, 2023
On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, our beloved Mother passed away at the Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton while bravely battling cancer with family at her side. Mom was 91 years old and will be forever loved and remembered.
Mom is survived by her children Helen, Andrea, Brenda, Jean, Darlene, Gail, Dennis, Mary, as well as her brother Jim, and her sister Jean. Mom is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and recently a great-great grandchild who all affectionally called her Momma Foran or Grammy.
Mom is predeceased by her husband Mark, her children Elizabeth, Kevin, Beatrice, as well as her parents Robert (Bob) and Beatrice. She is also predeceased by her siblings Bill, Art, Peter, Max, Eileen, Marina, Bernice, as well as partner Clayton. Mom was also loved and respected by her many sons-in-law.
Mom worked all her life in the food service industry cooking up many meals for her family and the community. Many family members and patrons would have enjoyed a meal at the places Mom worked including her sister Bernie’s Canteen, her own canteen, the Dealers Choice, the Kingsway Restaurant, The Village Inn, and the Senior Citizen’s home in Chatham.
Mom was a very strong and caring person and had many great qualities and a passion for knitting, sewing and crocheting. We all knew that her favourite colour was definitely pink. Mom’s favourite passion as a child was going to school and later in life went back to school and earned her Cook’s License. We are so very proud of all her accomplishments.
Mom enjoyed retirement making wreaths, knitting and spending time with her feral cat Tiger who she took in and loved dearly. During her life she enjoyed playing the violin and later the harmonica. Mom enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing cards and winning at Bingo.
She thoroughly enjoyed attending family functions whether it be a picnic up at Dennis’s or at Dad Taylor’s Meadow, a baby shower, a graduation or wedding. She always kept up to date on any news regarding new family members and those no longer with us. Mom had a big heart and her kindness showed no matter the situation. Mom spent most of her life in Halcomb, New Brunswick and later moved to Fredericton to be near family. Mom spent her last years at Ste. Anne’s Court Retirement Home which she enjoyed immensely. Here Mom attended the religious services, daily exercise sessions, dances, the social outings and the outdoor barbecues and feeding the birds. Mom was very well liked and respected at Ste. Anne’s by everyone and had a special way of including people in her life. Mom was a very quiet individual and loved life and always reminded us the importance of family. Mom loved reading the Bible and Mom’s favourite psalm was John 3:16. We love you Mom and may God bless you and may we all be together again someday.
The family will be receiving heartfelt condolences at Northumberland Funeral Home, 102 Pleasant St, Miramichi, NB, from 1pm to 1:45 pm. The funeral service will follow at 2 pm.
