Gino will be remembered as a man of great faith and for his passion to help those around him. Gino was a 3rd Degree Member of Council #1387 of the Knights of Columbus for 65 years and a 4th Degree Sir Knight of Assembly #876. Gino joined the Sudbury Regional Police in 1950 and was an officer for 7 years, resigning from the force after a severe injury. He worked as the Chief Tax Collector for the City of Greater Sudbury for 27 years, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed spending many winters in Florida and travelled to Europe on many occasions, visiting relatives in Italy and France. Gino applied himself to aiding the Italian community, who, with many regional dialects were searching for an Italian identity. Overcoming many obstacles that were put in front of him, in 1965, in preparation for Canada’s Centennial, Gino became president of the Caruso Club and built the structure that is a Sudbury landmark. He guided this project and the Italian community with pride and confidence for 12 years. Gino further served the community (1988-1990) by being elected Alderman for Ward 9. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at the Maison McCulloch Hospice for their compassionate and professional care. A private family service will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Interment of ashes to be scheduled at a later date. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca
